I stopped at two consignment stores first. Got lots of name brand for cheap! Nike, Childrens Place, Gap, Old Navy - Came to less than $60 for 7 knit sweaters, 2 sweatshirts, and 4 long sleeved shirts. PLUS I found some adjustable waistband jeans at Target. He's just too long and skinny! And a new winter jacket! I feel very accomplished with my bargain shopping skills today! Posted by: Amanda1981 Date: Oct 10, 2009.I have no real advice for you about how to solve the tantrum problems, as far as the lack of talking goes you can always bypass the pedi. and go through the school district and have him evaluated for speech. Good luck, sorry I couldn't be more help.View all discussions at Parenting: 2-Year-OldsUse the unsubscribe form to cancel your email sub_script_ion.

This is a digest of messages posted to: Parenting.Parenting: 2-Year-OldsDTaP vax ?Initial Message Posted by: jlcohen78 Date: Oct 10, 2009.Has anyone delayed this vax for the 15-18 month dosage? I'm doing some research on it since DD ended up with a more severe reaction from the MMR shot with a febrile seizure. It looks like this is another one that I might be a bit concerned about since the CDC lists seizures and fevers as a risk from the vaccine. The CDC specifically says controlling a fever is especially important for children who have had seizures for any reason. She already received 3 of the 5 doses and the 4th dose is normally given between 15-18 months. The neurologist we met with told us that the peak for febrile seizures in children is between 12-18 months and be ing that she's already had 3 between 9 and 12 months, I don't want to chance going through this all over again. She did not have a seizure with the first 3 doses (given at 2, 4 and 6 months) but generally febrile seizures don't occur that young so who knows what would happen if it's given during a peak period for seizures. Just curious for any information on it from a RELIABLE source. I plan on putting a call into the neurologist and my pedi to see their thoughts on this to but you ladies are also quite knowledgeable!OT: Boss's Day Oct 16Initial Message Posted by: mama_jen Date: Oct 10, 2009.Are you getting your boss a gift? Posted by: mlgbears31 Date: Oct 11, 2009.I think that calling YOUR pedi and neurologist would be the best bet. They know her history the best and I'm sure they will want to be cautious. Dr Sears also has very good info so you could see what they recommend for that vaccine and use that and your pedi's advice to decide.DTaP vax ?Message #2: DTaP vax ? Posted by: mrv77 Date: Oct 11, 2009.We delayed them but it was by accident. I forgot to take DD for it I had to take her in the heart of tax season and at that time I couldnt even remember by own name So she got it when she turned 2. I agree w/ Michelle and talk to both the pedi and the neurologist. I dont blame you for doing some research on it.DTaP vax ?Message #3: DTaP vax ? Posted by: mol13 Date: Oct 11, 2009.David had no issue with it at 2, 4, and 6 months but hasn't had any vaccines since 9 months; his will be VERY delayed, until he is off treatment. Jesse was perfectly fine with his first dose at 2 months. We will be delaying the MMR until David is off treatment, probably Jesse will get that one closer to age 2, which I feel better about anyway.eczema- anyone know?eczema- anyone know?Message #31: eczema- anyone know? Posted by: Me rryLyn Date: Oct 11, 2009.I had the same the same condition of itchy blisters, drying and cracking on my hands for years. Nothing but cortisone helped until one day when my daughter was 7 (she's 41 now) I took her for a haircut and the hairdresser suggested I use a product on her hair called Cure Care (then called Unicure) for cradle cap. Once I started using it on my daughter's hair I noticed my hands were no longer blistering. You can buy it at Sally's Beauty Supply and it's not expensive. About $7.00 for a half gallon container. It doesn't cure the blisters if you have them now, but it does prevent future breakouts. I have been using it ever since on my hair and I no longer have the blisters except when I run out of it and then they return. Luckily I have a Sally's not too far away but I think you can order it online also.Parenting: 2-Year-OldsempanadasInitial Message Posted by: j9ween2 Date: Oct 11, 2009.Does anyone make these? Anyone have a family recipe? thanksempanadasempanadasMessage #1: empanadas Posted by: linzuh04 Date: Oct 11, 2009.I do. I make taco ones. I brown ground beef and mix in taco seasoning, cheese and sour cream. Flatten out a pillsbury grands fridge biscuit, fill it with about a tblsp of meat, and fold it to make the half moon shape, press ends with fork to make the edge, poke holes in it and bake.empanadasMessage #2: em panadas Posted by: MrsWhiteCastle Date: Oct 11, 2009.That sounds really good! Our 2 1/2 year old wakes up 3 to 5 times on the average night. Occasionally she sleeps all the way through or wakes up only once. She has been sleeping on her own in a toddler bed for three months, prior to that she slept with us. I think she is doing great overall but would love her to sleep through the night more, especially since we have a new baby coming. Right now if she wakes up she cries (like she had a nightmare) or just yells for one of us. We go in, point for her to lay down, cover her and wait a minute for her to go to sleep. We might say shhhh, but no other talking or touching unless she won't settle down otherwise. Her schedule is going to bed at 8:30 or 9, but she does not take naps most days (her choice, believe me I try!). Any tips out there? We should probably wait a few minutes before responding, we are just so eager to get back to sleep ourselves that we don't. Btw, locking her in her room and letting her cry or scream until she goes back to sleep is not an option for us. Thanks for any help everyone!Frequent night wakings?Frequent night wakings?Message #1: Frequent night wakings? Posted by: curleysue1968 Date: Oct 11, 2009.we are going thru some of this too, I am hoping its a phase, and rolling with it. some nights when I am super tired I will just sleep by her, but I try not too. she is testing the waters so to speak, my DD cries some nights for close to 30 mintues at bedtime and some nights crashes after 5 minutes, I just try and let her be....Frequent night wakings?Message #2: Frequent night wakings? Posted by: mol13 Date: Oct 11, 2009.For our little guy, we could tell that he was ready to stay in his bed, so sometimes we would let him cry because it was clear that he was complaining and not as upset. Also, sometimes the bounceback game of putting him in bed over and over makes him madder. We put up a gate and leave the door open so we can hear him and he can hear us. Sometimes just telling him we love him, go back to bed, was eventually enough. He slept with us and we tried to get him out before DS2 arrived but it didn't work and he wasn't ready. It was hard with DS2 and DS1. DS1 comes into our bed in the morning still. DH can't resist those hugs. DS2 sleeps in a cosleeper sometimes but mostly with us. Night nursing was hard because of space. Anyhow...the basic point is that I treated DS1's bed resistance like and other issue that a toddler gets mad about. I knew there would be tears and opposition but I also felt that I did all I could to help him feel good about it. Also, he really does get better sleep because sometimes DS2 is hard to resettle.Frequent night wakings?Message #3: Frequent night wakings? Posted by: mol13 Date: Oct 11, 2009.oh, and DS1 sleeps in a mattress on the floor rather than a toddler bed. For a little while, my mom was visiting and would go in and comfort him. And usually fall asleep with him. I think it is Michelle (mlgbears) whose DD didn't really sleep well until she was in a bigger bed.Parenting: 2-Year-Oldsot: Lowes?Initial Message Posted by: mommyof3kiddos Date: Oct 11, 2009.I am having a washer and dryer delivered on Wednesday from Lowes. I choose the afternoon delivery. I didn't even think to ask what afternoon pickup hours were. I assume noon-5. No big deal re ally but I planned on taking the kids to this playarea where there is a little train to ride and they get to pick a pumpkin. I wanted to take them this week and they only do it Wed-Fri and Wed is the only day we could do it. They don't open the train until 1130. I was thinking I could get there at 10 when they open, let the kids play, and then at 1130 as soon as they open the pumpkin patch jump on the train. Then we could be home by 1230. Anyway, my point....has anyone ever had Lowes deliever? If so was it afternoon hours and if so what was the time_frame_????? TIA!ot: Lowes?ot: Lowes?Message #1: ot: Lowes? This is a digest of messages posted to: Parenting.Parenting: 2-Year-OldsBoy issuesInitial Message Posted by: jlcohen78 Date: Oct 12, 2009.I'm going to put a call into my pedi later today but I just wanted to see if anyone else has dealt with this. Yesterday DS started complaining that his private area hurt. It all started when we got home from a 45 minute car ride. He kept saying, "Ow! It hurts!" as I was carrying him inside the house. At first I thought it was the way that I was holding him and maybe I was putting pressure on it. But he complained about it after I put him down and then on a few times again in the evening. I asked him if his private area hurt and he said yes. I looked at it and his penis looks fine but his testicles look a little red. Not very red at all. He was in underwear the entire day. The only time he wears a diaper is at night so I don't think it's diaper rash. He woke up this morning saying the same thing but again I didn't notice anything. It doesn't bother him when he actually pees. Yesterday he did get his leg caught in the gate and we had to use some dish soap to get it out so I'm wondering if his leg hurts and he's just not telling me the right spot that hurts. But I don't know because it was right on top of his thigh
