stick vacuum Ziploc Vacuum Bags?
I just saw a Ziploc vacuum bag at Target. Have any tried these?  This is a lot less expensive than the other vacuum devices mentioned here. http://www.ziploc.com/?p=b10 I buy regular ziploc bags in bulk at Costco. When my wife isn't looking the beef goes into the bag and I suck the air out. Then into a non-frost free freezer. It works very well for us.. Kent

Here's a very inexpensive trick I sometimes use to vacuum seal Ziploc bags (YMMV!)  Instead of an electric- or battery-powered gizmo, I use a drinking straw - usually the sort that bends, but that's beside the point.  Any drinking straw will work.  After pushing most of the air from the plastic storage bag, I'll insert one end of the straw to the side/end of the ziploc bag so it's just below the 'zip locks' and close/seal the bag all the way to the inserted straw.  Then, I'll suck as much leftover air from the ziploc bag through the straw (please, no vulgar, obscene & otherwise unfriendly comments!!!).  While maintaining that 'vacuum', I'll withdraw the straw and quickly close that little bit of the 'zip' lock for a full seal.  I hope this makes sense? Kent I have one that I picked up at a discount store for $5 and the bags for $2.50 a box.  I've used it maybe 3 or 4 times in the year I've had it, to pack up leftover turkey, subdivide a 5# pack of hot dogs, and a roast I cooked ahead and froze.  Used it on some of the excess veggies from the CSA last summer. What I've used has been unfreezerburnt, and very handy since there's just the two of us now and a quart bag holds enough to make a couple meals. But it's no better than wrapping the stuff in plastic wrap, which also can be wrapped tightly enough to keep the air out. maxine in ri
