When the FAQ was written the time period was discussed. In general once per week is considered two often to post an FAQ. Semi-monthly did have the most support. One other poster reported that the NSP being used had only a few days (less then 10) retention. It might be needed to post it more often as most users do not appear to reag sigs. I suggest once every month or at least once every three months, because people new to internet can't make better searches than this to search for a FAQ for a newsgroup before they post a message:

Nowadays there are people who just want to find fast the appropriate newsgroup, and if they can't find the best possible newsgroup, they just post to some newsgroup, and some of them use Google Groups (because it's easy to use) to do that, see some examples of off topic messages in news.groups posted with Google Groups: where can I find free hairdressing management software http://groups.google.com/groups?dq=&hl=en&lr=&th=5cb17d8cc6552c1a a new user on google newsgroups http://groups.google.com/groups?dq=&hl=en&lr=&th=ef5fa5fc2820c0f4 EURO http://groups.google.com/groups?dq=&hl=en&lr=&th=f337043d114e95a4 Google Groups have some guidelines for newsgroups on
http://groups.google.com/googlegroups/posting_faq.html: To post a message, you must first identify the newsgroup in which you wish to start a discussion or select an article to which you wish to respond. But Google Groups FAQ doesn't contain the information on how to identify the correct newsgroup. I tried to find web pages that would help people to find the correct newsgroup for a certain subject, but I didn't find any with these searches:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=%22how+to+find+the+correct+n... http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=%22how+to+find+the+appropria... With this search I found four pages:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=%22how+to+find+the+right+new... http://www.nonviolence.org/support/ http://www.websearchguide.ca/discuss/ginews.htm http://osiris.sunderland.ac.uk/intro-computing/week4.htm http://iwi2-biw.iwi.unisg.ch/sw_support/internet/inu25.htm#E68E155 But I think these pages don't have any good examples for new users of internet. This might be one good advise for users, who want to learn how to search for the correct newsgroup:
